Update on Faith and Makaila 10

Not much has changed since our last update. Faith and Makaila continue to be on full feeds and are both still on the ventilators. Faith has had to go back on the oscillator setting because she isn't getting enough oxygen. She had another blood transfusion today and that has seemed to help. Makaila has been put on CPAP to see how she does, but she doesn't last much more than an hour. So, the goal right now is to get them bigger and stronger so they are capable of breathing on their own. The medical staff are adding supplements into their milk as needed to help with this process. So far they remain infection free which is encouraging, and this needs to continue to help keep their bodies focused on growing. They are both reasonably stable as long as they are left alone, so it has been a while since we have had a chance to cuddle with them. Karyn and I are satisfied with how they are doing, but we want them to grow and get stronger as soon as possible so they can get on CPAP. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
Blessings,

Graham

Dear Karyn and Graham,

Hi, my name is Andrea Ediger. You don’t know me but I know of you. My Mother, Marilyn Klassen used to work with Graham at the Open Door. We are glad to hear that your girls are doing good and are continuing in their prgress. Praise God!

We just had twins as well (Sophia and Ethan), and they were two months early! They were born at 32 weeks. We were lucky that we could all stay at MSA Hospital, but were very close to being sent to Vancouver as well. I have only come to your site in the last couple of days and have been trying to read and catch up on what is happening with you and your girls. It has taken me a little while since we don’t have a lot of spare time, right now. I am just waiting for Ethan to fall asleep! Or see if he will stay asleep!

A lot of what you have written in your blog sounds very familiar to our story. Although our twins were born a month later and didn’t have to go through having infections, they did go through the crashes and the ups and downs. Ethan was put on the respirator to help him breath in the beginning, but we were lucky that that didn’t last very long.

I understand about how hard it is to leave your newborns in the hospital. Very hard! But at least they are in good hands! In God’s hands and in the doctors and nurses that work with your children.

We are praying for you and your family, and think about you often. We also have a two year old (almost three), and know the difficulties of giving him all the attention he needs aswell. But God is good!

Our twins only needed to stay in the hospital for just over a month and have now been home for a month and a half. Wow, time flies. I know that it doesn’t seem like it now, it feels like it will be forever, but it does end. That time was hard, but it’s done now. God can get you through it. And the day they do come home is such a miraculous celebration. Our twins were 4 pounds when they were born and now at 3 months they are over 12 pounds and healthy! We are so amazed and very thankful to God.

We have some preemie girl sleepers that you can have. We also have a blog site at madse.blogspot.com . Feel free to have a visit and leave a comment.

May God be close to you, and continue to give you all peace.

Love Andrea Ediger

Dear Karyn and Graham,
Just letting you know you are in our hearts and our prayers daily. We pray for your strength and the health of our new little Great-great neices to thrive. We look ahead to the day when you bring all 3 children to Kelowna for a family visit.

Love from their Great-great Auntie Rene and Uncle George

Graham... I know you probably haven't had much time to think about Christmas, but if you ever have a chance to get a list together just email it on. Thanks! And I am very much looking forward to meeting my neices!

It's always good to hear good news. That's great that they are infection-free...though it must be difficult not being able to hold them. I hope that the two of you are holding up well. We think and pray for you often. How is Isaiah doing? Please continue updating us, your family is very special to us and we are greatful to be a part of it.

Blessings!

Karyn and Graham,
Well, what a story it is to enter in upon, when we hear of what is going on in your lives! As I'm sure you heard, I ran into Andy at the Lynden post office just before she was going to see your girls. I hope she passed on the hug and the promise of our prayers! We will continue to pray for you and your girls. I haven't been on the internet much lately, but just read up on how things have been going lately. Praise the Lord for all those girls have come through already! And we'll pray for their continual progress and believe in our great God with you! It's amazing to think about how much has happened in your life since Trinity, I imagine that being a mom and proved to be an immensely powerful experience for you. As difficult and scary as it seems, it also strikes me as so beautiful - something I look forward to. (No news from us yet though!)
Just wanted you to know our thoughts and prayers are with you! Rachel and Brandon Penkoff

I accidentally sent the same post 3 times, that's why I deleted two of them. :-) Sorry!
